BRYANT MEN FINISH THIRD, WOMEN TAKE FIFTH IN 2008 BRYANT UNIVERSITY CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL SATURDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University men's cross country team took third while the women took fifth in the 2008 Bryant University 5K Invitational Saturday afternoon in Smithfield, R.I., but it was Brown University that took first overall in both the men's and women's individual and team competitions.
The Bulldog men were led by an eighth-place finish by senior Tom Casey (New Windsor, N.Y.) in 17:08.15, followed closely by ninth-place finisher Justin Getts (Beacon Falls, Conn.) in 17:12.26.
On the women's side, Bryant's top finisher on the day was freshman Katharine Ragone (Bourne, Mass.), who took 23rd in 21:52.49.
Brown's Sam Sheehan (16:35.08) and Samantha Adelberg (19:43.97) won the men's and women's individual races for the Bears, who took team wins on the men's side with 27 points and the women's side with 16 points.
The Bulldogs next compete at the New England Championships on Oct. 11, 2008 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
