BULLDOGS PUT FORTH STRONG SHOWING AT BRYANT XC INVITATIONAL
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University men's and women's cross country teams both performed well as the host teams at the Bryant XC Invitational Friday afternoon, a non-scoring, 5K meet that opened the 2009 season for the Bulldogs.
Bryant freshman David Hurley (Ahsaway, R.I.) led the Bulldog pack on the men's side and overall, finishing ninth in the 10-team field in a time of 16:56.77. The Bulldog men saw a trio of top-15 finishes on the day, with juniors Scott Twardowski (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Chris Kelleher (Ellington, Conn.) crossing the line 13th and 14th, respectively.
On the women's side, freshman Megan Robertson (Sewell, N.J.) came in first from the Bulldogs, taking 42nd of 88 runners with a time of 21:42.28.
Southern Connecticut's Joseph Poulsen ran the fastest time of the day, winning the men's side in 16:35.40. UConn's Courtney Dinnan finished first among the women in a time of 19:06.97.
