SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women’s basketball senior Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W.Va.) and men’s basketball redshirt junior Hall Elisias (Valley Stream, N.Y.) are this week’s Navigant Credit Union Athletes of the Week.
Holloway broke Bryant’s Division I scoring record Monday night in the 55-35 setback against UMass Lowell. The senior netted seven points off two-of-eight shooting from the field and three-of-four from the stripe. Holloway’s first basket at the 5:54 mark in the first quarter put her past the previous record of 1,395 held by Breanna Rucker ’16. The Morgantown native now sits at 1,401 career points.
Elisias’ eight blocks Monday night at Navy were one shy of the Division I program record for a single game and helped power Bryant to a 60-45 victory over Navy Monday night at the Chace Athletic Center. All eight of Elisias’ blocks came in the second half and the total was one shy of Papa Lo’s nine at Long Island in 2009. Elisias added eight rebounds in the win to help Bryant hold a Division I opponent to 45 points or less for the second time this season and third in program history.
