BOSTON - Graduate midfielder Makayla Griffin of the Bryant University women's soccer team was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week by the conference Monday morning.
Griffin earned this honor by scoring twice in Bryant's conference-opening win over NJIT on Sunday. Her first goal came in the 14th minute of the game off a pass from Catherine Bean to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Griffin's second goal came as an answer to NJIT's first goal, once again off of an assist from Bean. This gave Bryant a 3-1 lead to end the first half.
This is Griffin's first weekly honor of her career. This is the Black and Gold's second honor of the season following Whitney Vaillant's Rookie of the Week.
Griffin and the Bulldogs are set to take on UAlbany on Sunday (Sept. 29th) in a 4:00 pm conference matchup.
