SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire scored three goals in each half to earn a 6-2 victory over the Bryant field hockey team in the America East opener on Friday afternoon at Cowen Field.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in America East play this season. The six goals are the most the Black and Gold have allowed this season.

- UNH answered Bryant's opening goal just three minutes later to take back the momentum.
First Quarter
- Bryant grabbed the lead thanks to a great long ball. Scarlatos restarted from the sideline and played a perfect ball ahead for Gallagher. Gallagher raced ahead and was able to slot it past the keeper to make it 1-0.
- UNH was able to answer quickly, tying the game after a endline dribble led to a feed in front.
Second Quarter
- UNH grabbed the lead with a pair of goals.
- Nicole Poulakis converted a penalty stroke to make it 2-1 and Kathelijne Knuttel finished after a scrum in the circle following a penalty corner.
Third Quarter
- The Bulldogs made it a one-goal game with a perfectly executed penalty corner. Boogers inserted to Filou Verhoeven and Verhoeven sent it right back to Boogers who was able to tip it home.
- UNH, however, answered with a pair of goals to give the Wildcats a 5-2 lead after three. Tasmin Cookman converted a Bryant turnover into a breakaway goal, while Knuttel tapped home her second goal on a good feed in front.
Fourth Quarter
- Cookman closed the scoring with her second of the game.
