Belmont, MA- Bryant squash traveled up to Tufts University to take on the Jumbos along with Brandeis University. The team secured their first win of the season against Brandeis, while dropping the match against the strong Tuft’s team.
The Bulldogs opened the day against an evenly matched Brandeis team. Junior Luke Lorenz started the Bulldogs off with a 3-0 sweep making it look easy, giving the Bulldogs the early lead. The momentum didn’t stop there as wins from Senior Chase Ruben, 3-1, and freshman Juan Rivas,3-0, followed the trend. To cap off the victory was Michael Gough at the #7 and Aditya Nain at the #8, who finished the job for Bryant, winning the match 5-3.
In the latter part of the day, Bryant faced off against the #27 team in the country, Tufts University. Tufts was just a little too much for Bryant to handle ending in a Bulldog lost, 0-9. After the match Lorenz said: “We had a strong showing against (#27) Tufts University. Guys competed at every spot and even took games away from them at three positions. While we may not have come out on top, we earned some respect on Sunday from gold standard team”.
Bulldogs will be back in action in February as they take the trip to Colgate University.
