SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University football redshirt-junior Jean Constant (Delray Beach, Fla.) has been selected as the Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the NEC office.
Constant opened the 2018 season with a 100-yard return touchdown on the opening kickoff of Saturday's 41-31 win over New Haven, tying the school record set by Jose Depadua in 2013 against Sacred Heart and matched by Constant last season against Wagner. He also earned STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week Honorable Mention honors.
The wide receiver/kick returner would find the end zone four times in the season-opening victory, as quarterback Price Wilson (Marietta, Ga.) connected with Constant for touchdown receptions of 13, 24 and 31 yards. Constant hauled in 10 catches for 119 yards, matching the Bryant Division I program record for receptions in a game.
In addition, junior Zahir Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) was named an NEC Prime Performer after posting the first multi-interception game of his career.
Bryant is back in action Saturday at 6 p.m. when the Bulldogs travel to Long Island to square off with No. 24 Stony Brook.
