SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head men's lacrosse coach Mike Pressler has completed his staff for the 2019 season with the addition of Bulldog alum Sean O'Keefe as volunteer assistant coach.
"Over the last few years we have enjoyed a great run with our volunteer assistant hires," said Pressler. "I am thrilled to announce Sean O'Keefe as our volunteer assistant for the 2019 season. Being one of our own, Coach Oak brings so much to the table. He is bright, innovative and has already developed a great rapport with our present players. He will be a huge asset in our on-campus recruiting. We are very excited to welcome Coach Oak back to his alma mater. The future of Bryant Lacrosse just took a positive step forward."
O'Keefe spent the last two seasons on the staff at Roanoke College, helping the Maroons to a 26-10 record during his time in Salem. Roanoke made an NCAA tournament appearance in 2018 via an at-large bid, winning 14 games and earning a first-round bye. In O'Keefe's first season in 2017, the Maroons ranked seventh in the nation in caused turnovers per game.
"I'm very excited to be back at Bryant, working with and learning from one of the best college coaching staffs around," said O'Keefe. "I had a great experience in my four years as a student-athlete at Bryant, and I couldn't be happier to be wearing Black and Gold again."
O'Keefe returns to Smithfield after a four-year career at Bryant from 2013-16, a stretch in which the Bulldogs won three NEC titles and ranked in the top 15 nationally in scoring defense in all four seasons.
The Bryant men's lacrosse team begins its 20th season and 11th Division I campaign in February. The full 2019 schedule will be announced later this fall.
