Coach Purcell's Comments
"We all wanted this game for the seniors, but in life, it doesn't always go the way you want it to. I thought we outplayed and controlled the tempo. We created many opportunities but just couldn't find the back of the net. I honestly couldn't ask for any more from these young me. I'm heartbroken for them."
Marius Koss provided LIU all it would need late in the match, as he fired a rocket into the top corner past junior Olivier Larente (LaSalle, Montreal, Canada) to give the Blackbirds the lead.
83rd minute – LIU Brooklyn 1, Bryant 0 – In a counter-attacking effort, Rasmus Hansen was able to finish the switch of play over the Koss, who took one touch and was able to beat Larente with the shot.
- Bryant had an advantage in the shots department, taking 11 to LIU's nine.
- Junior Victor Rey (Lincoln, R.I.) and sophomore Charles DeSantis (Saint-Mathias-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada) each led the Bulldogs with three shots each.
- Junior George Gill (Cork, Munster, Ireland) recorded a pair of shots for Bryant.
- The Bulldogs end their home season with a 1-4-2 record at the Bulldog Soccer Field.
Bryant plays for a spot in the postseason on Saturday afternoon when they head to New Britain, Conn. to take on Central Connecticut at 1 p.m.
