Bulldogs split matches on Saturday, down Binghamton

CUMBERLAND, R.I.  – The Bryant University men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday, defeating Binghamton on the road and falling to Brandeis at home.  

How it Happened (Binghamton)

  • The Bulldogs continued their exceptional play in doubles, taking the point at No. 1 and No. 3. Senior Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) and sophomore Wilson Dong (Bradenton, Fla.) improved to 6-0 together with a 6-2 win at No. 1.
  • In singles, Bryant and Binghamton split the first four points before junior Guido Argentini (Boca Raton, Fla.) was able to win a long rally and earn an electrifying three-set victory at No. 4. Argentini won it 7-6 (3).
  • Kuhar and Dong also won their fourth-straight matches, picking up points at No. 1 and No. 2.

How it Happened (Brandeis)

  • Ranked in the top 10 nationally in Division III, Brandeis swept the doubles point at ForeCourt.
  • In singles, the Judges picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to open a 3-0 lead and then clinched the match with a victory at No. 4.
  • Andrew Pregel (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Philip Belmatch (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up three-set victories. Pregel is now 8-2 in singles play this year.
