SMITHFIELD, R.I. – On the back of four-straight double-doubles – including three on the Bulldogs' 2-1 week – Bryant University volleyball rookie Natascha Scarff (Geneva, Switzerland) has been named the Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week.
Scarff led the Bulldogs on the week, totaling 44 kills and 48 digs with an impressive seven aces. The rookie hitter registered a double-double in all three outings, posting 13 kills and 15 digs Tuesday night in a 3-1 win over UMass Lowell (3 assists, 1 solo block) before scoring 14 kills and 16 digs with a career-high six aces in a 3-2 conference win over Saint Francis U. on Saturday.
Sunday saw the freshman pick up her fourth-consecutive double-double with 17 kills and 17 digs despite a 3-2 loss to Robert Morris. Scarff led the team on the serve and was second in both kills and digs, adding a trio of blocks on the week.
This is the first Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week recognition for Scarff and the second for the Bulldogs on the 2014 season after classmate Alexandra Lunsford won the honor in the opening week.
